Birthday
Today is my 26th birthday. I feel so old. I feel like I have accomplished a lot and then like I am also far behind. Birthdays in my life have always been a mixed bag. It's either a really good day or a really bad day. We've gone to Cheesecake Factory the past couple years. We usually just go out to dinner. Our family has never really had big birthday parties. I have also never really minded sharing my birthday with Leanna. I really only had friend birthday parties on my 12th and 14th birthdays. I will update next week how today went.

A New Path
This will not be memory post this week. I quit my job at Spectrum this week. I might be moving to Logan again for a new adventure and to be near more young people. It wasn't a difficult choice. I hated it there. I was bored, there was no challenge. I lacked basic job autonomy. I had no desk or even a place to put my stuff. I just stood there most of the time. The teachers gave me nothing to do. I just think that at almost 26 with a master's degree, I am done doing that. I am ready to be on a new path.

Boston Summer of 2015
I spent the summer of 2015 living with Katie in Boston. It was one of the best times of my life. I worked at the Old State House Museum right on the Freedom Trail. It was that summer I decided I wanted to be a social studies teacher. I was surrounded by so much history. I was also going to church again at the Harvard YSA Ward. Katie and I went on so many adventures. I loved every minute. It was the first time I really lived in a state outside of Utah. Then my mom got diagnosed with cancer for the second time. I had to go home to care for her. I will still always cherish that time though. Next week, I will write about my mom's cancer.

A History of Illness
So I accepted last night that I have a cold. I get sick around the beginning of every school year. I have gotten a lot of colds since becoming a teacher. The worst was my first year being a 1st grade TA at Summit. I got 5 colds in one school year. The past two winters I have gotten sinus infections that have lasted more than a month each. I am hoping now that I am teaching high school, the illnesses will go down. But I am sick right now. I am hoping it's just a mini cold. I went out with the math teacher on Monday and with the guy from Londonderry on Friday. I am still speaking to both of them so I hope I am slowly learning and not getting myself into the dating insecurity curse. I will update!

Tariq
Tomorrow is Labor Day. It marks two years since I got Tariq, my Russian tortoise. He was originally David's tortoise. He was a great pet and my first one. I liked it when he was able to walk around the house. Unfortunately, he passed away about a year later in August. He was the best tortoise and I want to get another one someday.
